Couples Massage

Here at Piedmont Spa we offer couples massages!  Couples massage may be in the same room or in separate rooms depending on your preference.  Each client may request their preferred massage modalities while they enjoy relaxing and unwinding with their partner.  Please call in advance to ensure the couples massage room availability.

CranioSacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the physiological body system called the craniosacral system. It is a method of detecting and correcting your body's innate healing abilities by dissipating the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is ideal for the person who wants a more focused massage yet still wants to feel deeply relaxed. This technique releases chronic muscle tension using deep finger, forearm and/or elbow pressure on tight or contracted areas. It can also improve and accelerate injury rehabilitation and reduce inflammation-related pain such as tendonitis.

Lymphatic

This modality involves very light pressure combined with pumping motions around the lymph nodes. This technique effectively moves lymph fluid toward the lymph nodes to flush body toxins and regulate fluids and the immune system. Lymphatic massage is highly relaxing and beneficial for the skin, immune system, circulation, and stress relief.

Myofacial Release

Myofacial Release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and resulting pain and restriction of motion.  It involves applying gentle yet sustained pressure into Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage is a safe and deeply relaxing form of massage therapy adapted to meet the needs of people during all stages of cancer treatment, recovery and survivorship. Our oncology massage therapist, Kat, is skilled at meeting both the physical and emotional needs of clients living with cancer. She integrates Swedish, Acupressure, and Reflexology along with special precautions for specific cancer treatments and the removal of lymph nodes.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage shares many of the goals and techniques of other massage modalities – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and enhance wellbeing. Prenatal massage is tailored to the needs of our pregnant clients and is often done in a side-lying position with the body supported by pillows.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu means "finger pressure." More specifically, Shiatsu focuses on potent points along energy lines- or meridians- throughout the body. It is useful in freeing up blockages of energy, boosting immunity, and releasing tension.

Soft Tissue Release

This form of bodywork combines active isolated stretching and acupressure to break up old scar tissue and increase blood flow.  It also helps to return injured muscle tissue to its proper resting length.

Sports Massage

Sports massage uses a wide variety of techniques to reduce injuries, increase physical performance, quicken recovery time and provide much needed relief to sore and overworked muscles. This modality often blends Swedish massage, Deep Tissue, stretching and range of motion exercises.

Structural Foot Balancing

This modality, created by Patricia Cramer who founded the World School of Massage, is similar to Vibrational Healing Massage Therapy. It involves rotating and working with the joints in the foot and ankle to increase space and decrease foot pain. Structural Foot Balancing is usually experienced as quite relaxing and is excellent for plantar fasciitis, painful arches, and for people who have toes turned in different ways. When the feet are aligned properly, it encourages the knees, hips, and spine to realign as well.

Swedish Relaxation Massage

Swedish massage can range from light to deep pressure and is used to promote general relaxation, improve range of motion and relieve muscle tension and stress. This technique uses long, smooth strokes to stimulate blood and lymph circulation and encourage the removal of toxins from your body.

TMJ Massage

Swedish massage can range from light to deep pressure and is used to promote general relaxation, to improve range of motion and to relieve muscle tension and stress. This technique uses long, smooth strokes to stimulate blood and lymph circulation and to release toxins from your body.

Trigger Point

A trigger point is an area of localized, bunched muscle fibers. Through deep, sustained finger pressure applied to these points, pain is alleviated and healing hastened.

Vibrational Healing Massage Therapy

This modality, created by Patricia Cramer who founded the World School of Massage, aims to create more fluidity in the body through stretches, joint rotations, rocking and shaking, and deep, specific work accompanied by guided breathing. This form of massage can be done with clothing on or incorporated into Swedish and Deep Tissue sessions. It is quite effective as a sports massage, for relieving pain, and for releasing held physical and/or emotional tension.

Yogic Massage

As with all of our massage modalities, Yogic massage begins with a brief consultation. You will then move into a period of breath work and meditation followed by a set of customized yoga poses to open the body in preparation for your massage. The session finishes with 60-minutes of table massage. Please allow at least 90-minutes for this type of massage.
